Girl Meets World Reaction: "Girl Meets the New Year"

Hey everyone! Today we're doing things a little differently... my friend Rebecca C. is going to give her opinion as well! Maybe if it goes well, we might have her again. Anyway, on with the show!

Girl Meets the New Year

Rebecca's Thoughts

As much as I love Jane Austen and the fact that her work was brought into this episode, the primary thoughts that run through my head when I think back over the episode are, "Did Farkle really do that?!" and, "I can't believe Farkle did that!" Then I ask myself, do I agree with his decision to reveal Riley's true feelings publicly? I don't think I do. At the same time, I'm pretty sure it's a decision I couldn't make unless I found myself in his shoes, so I can't judge him. I can only respect that he had the guts to do what he believed was right. Also, putting aside questions of right and wrong, what he did advanced the plot of the show, so when I look at it that way, I'm glad he made that choice. Girl Meets World is creating relationship complexities on a higher level than most other kids' sitcoms, and I am loving every moment of it.

Andrea's Thoughts

Once I got over the whole, "They have school between Christmas and New Year's Eve?!" thing, I just let the plot and its emotions wash over me. Without going too deep into spoiler-land, I liked that it covered the whole "head vs. heart vs. both" debate. And the funny thing is, I see the episode both from Farkle's and Rebecca's points of view. I'm not quite sure which way I feel... but I like that we can make a choice. And that the kids are learning tough things... even if it is hard to see them go through said events. (What? They're my little babies! :P) I hope to see more interesting, happy, and tough things in Season 3!

Happy New Year, everybody! May you follow your head and your heart in the coming year. Much love from all of us here at the Initiative!
