Jane the Virgin: 2x11 "Chapter Thirty-One" Recap

GUYS. This show is killing me. Legitimately, I feel like I've been stabbed. In the neck. With a syringe. Now before I get too spoiler-y, let's dive into the recap, shall we?
source
We start with the normal flashback of young Jane playing uncoordinated dodge ball. She keeps getting hit with the ball by this stud, Tommy. In all Jane fashion, she approaches Tommy and says the only reason he's hitting her is because he likes her, which he doesn't, he's just upset she wouldn't let him cheat on her math test.
source
We cut to Jane opening the door to Michael. Apparently he's worked things out with Rafael, and he wants to be with her, and...it's just a dream. Jane startles awake to Mateo crying, a problem that's pretty common with babies his age. The next morning the Villanueva woman debate what to do about sleep training when Glamma (a.k.a Liliana) appears at the door! She is visibly upset and goes to see Mateo. Jane asks what's wrong, and Glamma confides in Jane her husband is gay and left her for a man, but she tells her to keep it a secret.
source
Jane covers up for Glamma; at the same time, Petra talks to the police about her coming arrest. They present the "evidence" to her and the picture of a knife with her fingerprints on it that she supposedly used to stab Ivan. Of course, Petra denies all this, but since she didn't come forward first, it's her words against Magda's.

We cut to Jane and her first day as a TA, and she struggles when the students aren't very attentive and consider the class a joke. She watches basketball in order to connect with her students, but Abuela is still worried about Mateo and his sleep training. She believes they should let Mateo cry it out, which Jane is against. Meanwhile, Xo watches Michael flirt with someone at a nearby Cubano truck. And after that flirting session, he talks with Susanna about the Mutter case, and they realize they need to talk to Luisa again about her mom.
source
Back at the Villanueva house, Jane and Xo confide in each other about Michael's potential girlfriend and Glamma's gay husband. Later in the night, more sleep training is used, but nothing seems to be working. What also isn't working: Magda. Petra tries to get Magda to confess, but Magda suspects there's a recording device in the room.
source
The next morning we find out Abuela knows about Glamma's situation. At the same time, Susanna is seen questioning Luisa. She tries to use the fact that Luisa likes her to get more information, even confiding in her about her father that left (knowing this show, I have feeling this is a lie or it's going to come back in some way). Eventually, Luisa remembers something her mom used to tell her about: a lake with magic fish. They eventually discover Luisa's mom went to a lake with glowing fish.

Jane continues to try to connect to her students by relating Pride and Prejudice to basketball, which surprisingly works. But a basketball player, Matt, is riding on Jane's generosity and doesn't turn in his paper. Jane gives him an extension, which Rogelio's father doesn't have, according to Rogelio. He believes he's dying, which is the only reason why he wouldn't be here. Jane later confides in him that his father really is gay, and Rogelio is convinced the reason Glamma wouldn't tell him is because she's afraid he would judge.

The struggle with Mateo's sleep training continues. To keep Jane's mind off of the crying, Xo suggests stalking Michael's girlfriend on Facebook. Eventually Jane can't bear the crying and picks Mateo up, and when she does Mateo stomps the keyboard and sends a friend request to Michael's girlfriend.
source
In the morning, Jane obsesses over the friend request, and the lack of sleep leaves her stressed. To make matters worse, she finds out basketball player Matt plagiarized his paper. Angry, she gives him a big fat F. Also in trouble is Petra, who debates whether to plead guilty. Rafael notices her stress and offers to make dinner.
source
Also at dinner is the Villanueva family, who invited along the gay friends they know to show how accepting Rogelio is of gay people. It goes rather disastrously when Glamma finds out Rogelio knows, and she storms off. Rogelio goes to comfort her on the bench outside (that bench always solves problems).
source
Later that night, Jane agrees to try the cry it out method at the same time Petra and Rafael stay up late making dinner. Petra asks Rafael to stop making dinner with the murder knife, but Rafael points out it's new cutlery, and they find a hole in Magda's story. Back at the Villanueva house, as they wait out Mateo's crying, Professor Blake calls and asks Jane to give Matt a second chance. Jane is pissed but agrees, and then she cheers up when they discover Mateo has fallen asleep.
source
Jane later confronts Matt about the paper, but he's upset he still has to write one. Jane bets that if she can make a shot then Matt can write a paper. She tries her best, but Jane really is awful at basketball and can't make anything. But after seeing Jane try so hard, Matt agrees to write the paper.

Back with Petra, we see her "reconciling" with Magda, but then she reveals they found evidence against her, and the police storm in. Side note: Police always storm in on this show. Anyway, as Magda is leaving, she mouths, "Wrong choice," which the narrator says would come back to haunt Petra. But we aren't focusing on that, we're focusing on Petra and...Rafael. Who hug it out. Then there's me:

We go back to Jane, who finds Michael on her doorstep. He's there asking about why she sent a friend request to his girlfriend. She tries to explain, then explain her feelings about the Christmas topper, but he says that he really doesn't have feelings for her anymore, and she should just let it be. Jane is sad, but me?
source
Jane goes to sleep (as does Mateo), and in the morning they get visit from...Glampa! (Though he's not called Glampa, but he should be.) He's rather upset with Glamma about them not telling Rogelio together, and it's revealed that Glamma has known for the past forty years about Glampa's gayness.
source
We then go to Rafael, who has decided he wants to reconcile with his mother. She tries her best to explain how his father was controlling, how she was so young, and how she's very sorry. Rafael decides to take it one step at a time with her. At the same time, Michael's just taken a giant step and deduced that Elena (Rafael's mom) is really Mutter because Mia is found to be dead. (Also, Susanna tells Luisa this, and they share a kiss, but I'm kind of done with all of Luisa's lovers.) Rafael goes into a closet to retrieve a few things of Elena's, but when he finds letters tied together by a blue silk rope (Mutter!), he reaches for his phone to call the police. And then Elena stabs him with a syringe.

He sinks to the ground, unconscious...and I'm in the freaking library holding in my screams.

What did you guys think of this week's episode?
