6 Reasons Why You Should Give Interstellar a Try

Maybe you've heard of a movie entitled Interstellar that came out late last year. Maybe you've never seen it. I'm here today to tell you why you should give this beautiful film a try!

Interstellar tells the story of Cooper and his daughter Murph. The earth is dying and Cooper is tasked with finding a new world for the human race, but in doing so, he would have to leave Murph behind. Without further ado, here are some reasons why you should watch this glorious film.

1. It's very intricate.

There are so many plot threads that it's almost hard to know where it's going or if it will even tie together, but it does. It's so astonishing. I left like I was just sitting in the movie theatre in awe at something so beautiful and complicated.

Also, complicated science. Wormholes. Black holes. My nerdy self was very happy.

2. It's gorgeous.

The visuals are breathtaking. It's epic and stark and so real. Combined with the music, it almost feels like you're in space with the characters. There's a sense of loneliness and solitude combined with beauty that I just love.

3. It's original.

While at the beginning it might seem to be a typical science fiction saving-the-human-race story, it develops into a story very fresh and well-written.  It's very plot-heavy and there were so many things that I didn't see coming.

4. The music is outstanding.

It captures the mood and themes of the movie so well. It's very atmospheric and almost eerie. For me, it feels as if I can almost taste the desperation and beauty of being in space and trying to save the human race. This song is a really good taste.

In some places I can only describe it as "the dance of the stars," especially later in this track.

5. It focuses on family and love.

This was one of my favorite aspects of this film. One of the main themes of the movie is that love is the only thing that keeps us together. How do we feel love across galaxies? "Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends time and space."

6. There's such a sense of wonder.

One of my other favorite themes of this movie is our ability to wonder at what lies beyond and what new things we can learn and do. In this story, the earth is dying, and humans have started to do nothing but worry about how to keep this world alive. "We used to look up at the sky and wonder at our place in the stars. Now we just look down, and worry about our place in the dirt." May we never lose our sense of wonder about life and love and the universe.

If you have seen Interstellar, what did you think? What was your favorite aspect of the movie?

I KNOW. I CRIED TOO. When Cooper is watching the videos after the time gap, I just lost it and started sobbing. SO HARD.
